We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our Higher Land team at Farmers Markets. We operate Farmer's Markets throughout the Bay Area and are expanding our operations.

We run Farmer's Markets in Kensington and Berkeley, CA. Occasionally, catering and other events.

As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while preparing high-quality beverages and food. You will also be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Duties
  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes and customer preferences.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods, to provide accurate information to customers.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately, including processing payments and managing the cash register.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques during preparation and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, equipment, and utensils.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure timely service during peak hours while maintaining quality.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly manner, taking orders efficiently and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a coffee shop or food service environment is preferred but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and providing accurate change.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices is an asset. Food Handler Certification or Food Management Certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
