We are seeking a highly experienced Elastic Search Database Engineer to architect, deploy, and maintain scalable Elasticsearch clusters across cloud and on-premises environments. This role will play a key part in optimizing indexing, query performance, and cluster reliability, while implementing monitoring, alerting, and automation practices. You will collaborate closely with DevOps and backend teams to integrate Elasticsearch into larger systems, develop infrastructure-as-code solutions, and troubleshoot complex production issues. The role emphasizes proactive performance optimization, cloud expertise, and automation using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Python. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, innovative environment, contributing directly to database stability and operational efficiency at scale.

Accountabilities

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain large-scale Elasticsearch clusters in production environments.
  • Optimize indexing, querying, and cluster performance for high-throughput workloads.
  • Implement observability and monitoring dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, backend, and cloud teams to integrate Elasticsearch into broader systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud, network, and application layers.
  • Document best practices, runbooks, and performance benchmarks.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 coverage for critical database systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience managing Elasticsearch in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of Elasticsearch internals: shards, replicas, mappings, analyzers, and snapshot lifecycle policies.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Bash scripting for automation.
  • Proven experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and configuration management tools like Ansible.
  • Cloud expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Azure.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
