Key Responsibilities And Challenges

  • Analyzing Customer technical specifications and propose the most appropriate solution for different Electronics systems, considering allocated budget.

[Electronic Systems considered for this role are (indicative only, not exhaustive): Event Recorder, Obstacle detection system, PIS/PA System, CCTV system, Passenger Counting System, Ticketing System, Data Transmission & Networking System, Driver Advisory System, etc.]

  • Preparation of technical specification for outsourced electronic systems and verification & acceptance of the supplier's proposed solution.
  • Interfacing with Signaling & Telecom Suppliers.
  • Interface with Electrical & Mechanical teams for integration of the system with rail vehicles.
  • Interfacing with CAF internal teams (including TCMS) and other on-board systems in the rail vehicle.
  • Participate in technical reviews and project meetings.
  • Participate in discussions with suppliers & end customer to find out the most suitable solution.
  • Development and delivery of high-quality engineering design work, within defined budgets and timescales.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure proper systems integration.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize the systems based on project needs.
  • Ensure the design complies with customer requirements and meets quality standards and applicable regulations & standards, following the design verification and validation process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Electronics or Communication Engineering or a related field.

Experience

  • Proven experience (>3 years) in definition and integration of electronic systems / information and communication systems or any other related systems.
  • Be able to identify new solutions and select most suitable products from the available electronics system suppliers.
  • Good Knowledge of EN50155, ERTMS & CBTC.
  • Good Knowledge of Ethernet networks and communications protocols.
  • General understanding of Cybersecurity / Network security and encryption concepts such as security gateway, firewalls, SSL VPNs and certificates.

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience in the railway sector or similar complex projects.
  • Ability to negotiate with customers and suppliers.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge and awareness of product engineering lifecycle and project phases.
  • Good Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Knowledge of tools like IBM-DOORS & 3DExperience is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work in a high-level collaborative multicultural environment and promoting a teamwork mentality.
  • Client-oriented: Knowledge, awareness and interest in the Client (internal and/or external) needs.
  • Result-oriented: Pro-active in the role and ability to focus activities towards achieving objectives.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Other Requirements

  • Ability for frequent national and/or international travelling as per project needs.
  • Full proficiency in English language is must, both verbal and written. Optional requirement Spanish, French, German.
