Job Overview

The Part-Time Statistics Analyst I role is an exciting opportunity to join the Details and Analysis team within blithequark ESPN's Details and Data Gathering department. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sports data on blithequark ESPN stages worldwide, working with digital data feeds, and utilizing manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and clever sports information. This is a part-time position that requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guarantee sports data distributed by Details and Data is accurate, timely, and adroit.
  • Work in individual settings and in groups to deliver accurate detailed breakdown, clock-and-score, and different measurements and data in real-time that power a multitude of blithequark ESPN products and productions.
  • Create and maintain an active knowledge of Details and Data's role in fueling blithequark ESPN digital products and television productions.
  • Check the results of one's own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
  • Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and assist newsroom leaders who are coordinating full-and part-time staff.
  • Anticipate possible issues, both daily and long-term, and propose likely solutions. Communicate rapidly and clearly with stakeholders on these issues.
  • Play a proactive role in working with stakeholders in developing or refining production processes.
  • Be an active participant in team and department meetings.
  • Seek and respond to feedback around individual performance.
  • Remain informed regarding current departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of the games.
  • Full schedule availability, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to quickly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports data that powers blithequark ESPN's digital and television products.
  • Ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances.
  • Ability to communicate confidently - verbally and in writing - to production managers and peers about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years' experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media.
  • Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and for research purposes.
  • Working knowledge of blithequark ESPN products and productions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team.
  • Ability to speak and write Spanish.
  • Experience using social media in a business or news environment.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred.
