Job Title: Information & Cyber Security Intern
Department: Information Security / IT Compliance

Duration: 6 Months Internship

Position Overview:

The Information & Cyber Security Intern will assist in strengthening the organization’s data security posture and ensuring the protection of confidential information. The role involves supporting the implementation of cybersecurity policies, risk assessments, data protection measures, and awareness initiatives across departments.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world information security challenges in a corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring information security and data protection policies.
  • Support data access reviews, permission management, and system monitoring to identify potential risks.
  • Participate in internal audits and risk assessments of information systems and processes.
  • Assist in evaluating the organization’s digital assets and web applications based on OWASP Top 10 security principles.
  • Help maintain documentation, including security policies, incident logs, and compliance records.
  • Support employee training programs to promote cybersecurity awareness and safe digital practices.
  • Research emerging cyber threats and recommend preventive measures aligned with OWASP and ISO 27001 guidelines.
  • Support secure handling, storage, and sharing of digital business information.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Hands-on experience with cybersecurity governance and compliance practices.
  • Exposure to OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Understanding of data protection frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR fundamentals).
  • Development of practical risk assessment, documentation, and reporting skills.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Basic knowledge of information security concepts, cybersecurity frameworks, and OWASP principles.
  • Understanding of data privacy, encryption, and secure communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, secure cloud platforms, and access control methods.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

  • Eagerness to learn new cybersecurity tools and frameworks.

Educational Qualification:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Coursework or certification in cybersecurity or information assurance is an advantage.
