Medical Coding and Billing Instructor

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and coding, with experience in various coding systems such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate billing processes and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medical Biller will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure that all billing information is processed efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify patient information for accuracy before billing.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS).
  • Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues with billing.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of billing processes and patient accounts.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper coding practices are followed.
  • Conduct documentation reviews to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide training and support to staff on medical billing procedures and coding practices.
  • Assist in lesson planning and teaching sessions related to medical terminology and health information management.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a medical office setting with a focus on medical billing and coding.
  • Familiarity with Epic software is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and health information management principles.
  • Experience in adult education or classroom settings is a plus, particularly in teaching medical coding concepts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information clearly to both clinical staff and patients.
