OPRC10 - Associate Procurement Specialist

Join our team as an Associate Procurement Specialist and play a vital role in our corporate Procurement group. You’ll be responsible for supporting a range of procurement and administrative activities that directly impact our company’s operations. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll help foster effective vendor relationships, optimize costs, and maintain exceptional service standards. This will be a hybrid role split between 2 days in the office and 2-3 days working remote.

**This position will be located in the Chennai, India area. Relocation is not provided.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-efficient procurement of goods, services, and supplies.
  • Manage procurement activities for both customer-related processes and internal operations, ensuring adherence to established budgets and timelines.
  • Address and resolve supplier issues, including defective products and delivery delays, and negotiate refunds or credits when necessary.
  • Coordinate closely with operations, maintenance, warehouse, and engineering teams to align on scheduling and movement of goods and supplies.
  • Monitor supplier performance and compliance with contracts, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Process purchase orders, track delivery schedules, and update inventory records to maintain a seamless supply chain.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and evaluate existing suppliers’ offerings for quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist in preparing reports and analysis on procurement metrics, supplier performance, and savings achieved for internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all procurement transactions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement team to streamline processes and optimize resources.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong negotiation skills with an ability to establish and maintain effective supplier relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Deltek CostPoint or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Experience with federal government contracts and subcontracts.
  • Experience with commercial or defense procurement, with knowledge of contracts and subcontracts.
