Job Description

ERM require a Power BI Analyst Developer to augment the existing Database team. This is a key role working with key stakeholders and colleagues, assisting the business in understanding requirements, developing BI content and supporting and managing existing BI processes and toolsets. This role has a focus on Microsoft technologies including Power BI, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server and MS Fabric.

The successful candidate should be confident working with Power BI, dealing with user queries and having an ability to respond promptly and resolve issues. They will have built and shared dashboards both internally and externally in an organisation. A good knowledge of Transact-SQL, SQL Server Agent, SSIS packages and Data Warehouses using Microsoft SQL Server and Tabular models are highly beneficial to this role as well as a working knowledge of .Net and data driven applications as there is also some responsibility for supporting and bug fixing some custom .Net applications built in house using a third party SDK provided by the vendor, BST Global, of ERM's Finance system.

Supporting our current delivery model entailing business led self-service BI with some governed data sources this role works closely with the DBA team.

Key Skills

  • Respond and resolve Power BI related service desk tickets
  • Power BI dashboarding
  • .NET / SDK support
  • SQL skills required for comfort when working with SSRS, Power BI Dataflows and Fabric
  • Installation of patches, tracking failures and monitoring integrations
  • Fabric support, including capacity usage and utilisation, reporting cost per CU to the business and highlighting cost increases incurred based on usage metrics.
  • Engaging with ERM's Power BI technical community and advising on industry best practice
  • Good communication, both verbal and written
  • Provide clear technical documentation
  • Potential development using MS .NET
  • Comfort using MS Dev Ops and managing code
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sharing dashboards using Power BI
  • Minimum 4 years of experience of analytics and BI solutions and resolving day to day issues with existing reports and ETLs
  • Some experience and understanding of working with Visual Studio (VB.NET /C#.NET) and of following best practices using Dev Ops for code management
  • Strong understanding of the design and development of Power BI dashboards and SSRS reports to enable easy interpretation of transactional data, client data, and KPI metrics.
  • Manage Power BI Gateways, create connections and share these with users
  • Possess the ability to build new pipelines and Data Flows in Fabric to load and transform data
  • Build Data models whilst supporting and managing existing data models.
  • Write and understand T-SQL code.
