Program Manager, Global Finance Technology (Tax) Please note this role is only available in Seattle and follows our flexible work model, which requires three in-office days a week. Global Finance Technology (GFT) is seeking a Program Manager to drive complex, cross-functional tax technology initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of technology, tax, and accounting, ensuring we deliver scalable, compliant solutions that support Expedia Group’s global tax and finance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Delivery Own planning and execution of cross-functional tax programs from concept through launch. Define and manage scope, milestones, dependencies, and success metrics to deliver predictable outcomes.
  • Agile Program Management (Scrum & Kanban) Partner closely with engineering teams running Scrum and Kanban. Drive effective backlog refinement and prioritization. Track Agile delivery metrics and remove impediments to keep teams moving.
  • Requirements & Tax/Accounting Alignment Lead requirements gathering with Tax, Accounting, and Finance stakeholders; translate regulatory and business needs into clear, testable deliverables. Ensure traceability from requirements through design, build, testing, and go-live for tax subledger, reporting, and compliance capabilities. Support Tax Accounting on topics such as tax form management, withholding, and reporting.
  • Stakeholder & Communication Management Build strong partnerships across Tax, Accounting, Product, and Engineering. Run effective cross-functional forums, clearly communicate status, risks, and decisions, and drive alignment on trade-offs.
  • Governance & Delivery Excellence Maintain integrated plans, RAID logs, and executive-ready reporting. Use Confluence, SharePoint, and Jira to document scope, track delivery, and provide program transparency. Proactively identify risks and issues and drive mitigation plans.

Requirements

  • Proven program management experience driving complex, cross-functional technology initiatives end to end.
  • Demonstrated success working with engineering teams in Agile (Scrum and Kanban) environments, including facilitating ceremonies and partnering with engineering leads on planning and execution.
  • Strong requirements analysis skills; ability to translate regulatory/tax/accounting needs into actionable technical work and user stories.
  • Experience working with Tax and Accounting stakeholders, ideally in areas such as tax subledger, tax reporting, or tax form management.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills; able to work across time zones and functions.
  • Comfortable using Confluence, SharePoint, and Jira for documentation, collaboration, and delivery tracking.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of program or technical program management experience in technology, finance, or tax/finance systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile delivery (Scrum and/or Kanban) required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in tax, accounting, or finance technology programs strongly preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred; Agile certifications (e.g., CSM, PMI-ACP, SAFe) a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and drive results in a matrixed, global organization.
