This position is for a PRN Registered Nurse at Amador County Jail

Pay: $66 per hour

Position Requirements

Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of employment, as well as a valid CPR certification. Candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting. Correctional healthcare experience is preferred.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA) and Director of Nursing (DON), the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care within the scope of the State Board of Nursing Practice.

Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental capacity to work in an environment that may be less than pristine while maintaining professionalism and emotional resilience in stressful situations. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force and push, pull, or move objects, including assisting with movement of the human body. This position may require prolonged standing and walking while performing duties.

Performance Expectations

A. Utilize nursing knowledge and clinical expertise to ensure nursing processes and systems are followed in accordance with policies, procedures, company standards, and accreditation requirements. B. Work collaboratively with the HSA and DON to support coordination of the healthcare delivery system and other facility operations.

C. Independently utilize all functions and applications of the electronic health record (EHR) system relevant to the position and assist with staff training as requested.

D. Communicate effectively with patients, peers, leadership, and staff at all levels of the organization. Maintain clear lines of communication throughout issue resolution processes.

E. Demonstrate professional performance consistent with nursing practice standards, applicable statutes, rules, regulations, and organizational expectations.

F. Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies within the facility, including performing continuous CPR until properly relieved.

G. Obtain and document patient histories and vital signs, assist with examinations and treatments, and report changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare provider.

H. Assist with daily triage/sick call, patient assessments, and minor medical or surgical procedures.

I. Initiate and document protocol-driven treatments in compliance with company policies and procedures.

J. Collaborate with nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, executive leadership, and other stakeholders to streamline healthcare services within the facility.

K. Assist with disaster preparedness and emergency response planning. Adhere to and enforce all safety and security policies and procedures and participate in required emergency drills.

L. Observe and evaluate the performance of LVN nursing staff as directed.

M. Work in collaboration with the HSA and DON to fulfill contractual obligations related to the delivery of quality healthcare services.

N. Maintain compliance with continuing education requirements for the position and remain mindful of NCCHC standards related to continuing education.

O. Assist in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of clinical services and support the development of systems that monitor patient care and safety.

P. Demonstrate professionalism by maintaining objectivity, exercising self-control under pressure, separating personal and professional matters, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining integrity, and promoting a positive work environment.

Q. Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required for contract compliance.

R. Escalate critical information to the appropriate level of management when issues may negatively impact patient care, operations, or client relations.
