Research Apprentice

Join American Express as a Research Apprentice supporting policy compliance programs and operational activities within Global Merchant & Network Services.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing operational activities supporting policy compliance programs such as Exception Governance, Industry Mandates, Policy Risk Assessment, and Payment Card Industry standards.
  • Monitoring Network Participant performance, managing programs, and following up on non-compliance.
  • Collaborating with Partner Managers, Client Managers, Regulatory Compliance, GMS, GCO, Policy Development teams, and other stakeholders to drive policy compliance.
  • Analyzing data on Network Participant and Merchant performance to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Leading and supporting cross-functional compliance projects to enhance programs and improve policy compliance.
  • Supporting GMNS Merchant Operations leadership in evolving policy compliance programs.
  • Producing regular reporting and metrics on policy compliance programs and developing new reporting.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on Policy Compliance deliverables.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Graduates with a maximum of 11 months of experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, agility, and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to act as a back-up to perform Manager Role and Responsibilities and collaborate with offshore business.
  • Understanding of synergies between different Policy Compliance Programs and ability to draw inferences.
  • Understanding of the network and merchant business model including processes and terminology.
  • Self-starter with initiative to address issues, strong eye for detail, and organizational skills.
  • Team player with strong ability to build and leverage relationships.
  • Strong customer focus with demonstrated problem-solving and process improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of credit card industry preferred.
