Role Summary

The EMT-Lead is a strategic and technical leadership role responsible for managing the delivery of actuarial modelling, database development, Exchange-Transform-Load (ETL) processes, model validation, and production support across the Enterprise Modelling Team. This position is ideal for someone who is deeply passionate about leveraging tools, technology, and modern platforms to transform actuarial operations. It is not a traditional actuarial role - instead, it demands a forward-thinking mindset that embraces automation, data engineering, and scalable modelling practices.

The EMT-Lead will work at the intersection of actuarial science and technology, driving innovation in model development, validation, and production workflows. The role requires a strong understanding of actuarial concepts, but more importantly, a technological curiosity and enthusiasm for building smarter, faster, and more efficient systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Delivery Management

  • EDB (Enterprise Database Team):

  • PED (Principal Enterprise Database) Updates & Regression Testing (Quarterly): Lead quarterly PED updates and regression testing. Apply actuarial judgment to quantify impacts.
  • Various Model Efficiency/Transformation Projects: Some Examples - Drive asset reconciliation, consistency checks, and CFT customizations, aligning pricing databases with PED and validate cash flows
  • Be a SME and POC on ALFA and Integrate App and help solve queries/errors users on these.
  • Customization Review: Review PED customizations for coding standards and integration readiness.
  • Model Optimization: Analyze model run times and optimize initialization and merging logic.

Tools & Technologies Used: Excel, Integrate App, MG ALFA

  • IPT (Integrated Production Team):

  • Production Valuation Model Configuration & Post-Run Checks: Configure Production templates and instances. Run workflows, and workspace setups.
  • Valuation Branch Updates: Manage updates to valuation branches. Conduct regression testing and deviation analysis.
  • Job Compute Cost Reporting: Extract and analyze compute cost reports. Publish dashboards and investigate anomalies.
  • ETL Run Time Monitoring: Track and visualize ETL run times across BUs.

Tools & Technologies Used: Integrate Financial Projections (IFP), Integrate App, Excel, Power BI, VBA

  • IDM (Integrate Data Management):
  • ETL Development & Management: Design, develop, manage and validate ETLs for input/output dataflows.
  • Actuarial Data Understanding: Guide team in understanding assumptions, policy attributes, and aggregation logic.

Tools & Technologies Used: Integrate Data Management (IDM), Azure Data Factory (ADF), Power BI, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Python, SQL

  • Model Validation:
  • Lead model validation efforts across actuarial models and systems.
  • Ensure models meet governance and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate independent reviews of model logic, assumptions, inputs, and outputs.
  • Document validation findings and remediation actions.

Tools & Technologies Used: MG ALFA, Integrate App, Excel

  1. People Leadership

  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team of actuaries, analysts, and developers.
  • Assign responsibilities, mentor team members, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development support.
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster a collaborative team culture.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with BU actuaries, IT, and product teams.
  • Present insights and ensure alignment with compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Present insights, deviations, and optimization opportunities to business leadership.
  • Ensure alignment with compliance, regulatory, and audit standards.

  1. Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify automation opportunities across modelling and data workflows.
  • Standardize coding practices and documentation across teams.
  • Drive initiatives for model efficiency, data quality, and system scalability.

Skills & Competencies Required

Actuarial & Analytical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of actuarial concepts and ability to interpret model outputs.

Technical Skills:

  • Software: MG ALFA, Integrate App, IFP, IDM, Excel, Power BI
  • Coding: VBA, SQL, PowerShell, ADF scripting
  • Platforms: AWS, ETL frameworks

Leadership & Communication:

  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into business insights.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in actuarial science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10-14 years of experience in actuarial modelling, data management, or related domains.
  • Prior experience in leading cross-functional teams is highly desirable.
  • Progress towards actuarial certifications (e.g., SOA, IAI, IFOA) is a plus
