Forsyth County Family Haven is dedicated to supporting victims and families affected by domestic violence. Serving Forsyth and North Fulton Counties, the organization provides essential shelter, programs, and services to empower individuals and break the cycle of violence. All services are offered free of charge to domestic violence survivors. Family Haven also engages in community education to raise awareness and promote prevention efforts.

Position Title:

Shelter Advocate (Part-Time)

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Shelter Advocate to provide crisis intervention, victim assistance, and advocacy services for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. This role supports shelter residents and crisis line callers by assessing needs, assisting with safety planning, coordinating services and referrals, and providing emotional support in a safe and respectful environment.

Key responsibilities include responding to crisis calls, assisting with shelter intake and resident support, maintaining confidential records, ensuring shelter safety and cleanliness, coordinating with staff and community resources, and helping residents navigate communal living through positive communication, conflict resolution, and life skills support.

  • The ideal candidate is empathetic, organized, able to remain calm in crisis situations, and passionate about serving survivors and their children. Participation in staff meetings, trainings, and special events is also expected.
