Our goal is to empower our Product Design partners with the insights they need to make well-informed design decisions. We also use our insights and perspective to inform cross-functional product development and alignment. We're a highly motivated, detail-oriented group with a passion for products, people, and bigger-picture insights.<br><br>Researchers at Smartsheet come from a diverse range of traditional and non-traditional backgrounds. We apply a wide range of research methodologies, human-centered design practices, and principles of human cognition to create engaging, valuable, and intuitive user experiences for our customers. As a member of the User Experience team, you'll shape the future of work.<br><br>This full-time position reports to the UX Manager and can be located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.<br><br><strong>You Will<br><br></strong><ul><li>Drive Strategic Impact: Impact the product at the feature level while broadening influence by applying insights holistically across an entire experience and pillar.</li><li>Execute End-to-End Research: Identify tasks and activities without guidance, and work with the team to prioritize research questions and create a research roadmap. Adapt research methodologies, shifting effectively between rapid, 'scrappy' approaches and comprehensive, in-depth studies, as necessitated by the specific research questions.</li><li>Uplevel Insights: Provide recommendations that increase the knowledge of the team beyond a single project, moving from tactical to strategic insights.</li><li>Influence Strategy: With guidance, start to influence product priority and strategy in addition to near-term design and product improvements.</li><li>Apply Appropriate Methodologies: Use multiple generative and evaluative research methods to answer product and design questions, while articulating the limitations of different methodologies.</li><li>Leverage Quantitative Data: Utilize descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze behavioral and survey data, identifying significant trends and patterns that inform product decisions and measure user sentiment at scale.</li><li>Collaborate and Lead: Proactively establish yourself as the go-to research person for your product team and develop positive, trust-based relationships with partners.</li><li>Drive Business Intuition: Contribute to the team's overall customer intuition and leverage competitive insights to propose features that enhance the product's edge.<br><br></li></ul><strong>You Have<br><br></strong><ul><li>Proven Research Experience: 3-5 years of experience in UX research or a related field.</li><li>Methodological Expertise: Experience with multiple generative and evaluative methods and the ability to draw appropriate conclusions from varied data types.</li><li>Statistical & Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with descriptive and inferential statistics, with practical experience using R or Python to manipulate and analyze large datasets, including telemetry/behavioral logs and complex survey results.</li><li>Communication Skills: Ability to understand the needs of different audiences and adapt presentations and communication styles accordingly.</li><li>AI Literacy: An understanding of how AI tools process and synthesize data, including risks such as bias and hallucinations.</li><li>A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Journalism, Anthropology, Communication, Design, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.</li><li>Must be legally eligible to work in the US on an ongoing basis.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Current US Perks & Benefits<br><br></strong><ul><li>Employer subsidized medical/vision and dental coverage for full-time employees</li><li>401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay)</li><li>Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity</li><li>Flexible Time Away Program, plus Sick Time Off</li><li>US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans</li><li>US employees receive 12 paid holidays per year</li><li>Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave</li><li>Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community</li><li>Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to Udemy online courses</li><li>Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account</li><li>Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific)<br><br></li></ul><em>Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location.
