The candidate would ideally be based alongside our existing team located in Boston MA, New York City NY, Atlanta GA, Houston TX or Plymouth Meeting PA. We are seeking a highly motivated, hardworking and capable individual who is passionate and committed to excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, solid analytical abilities, and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively across all levels and disciplines. This role partners across the organization to originate, evaluate and execute new business opportunities, with ownership of underwriting decisions and portfolio performance. This is a highly market-facing role demanding strong character, credibility, and advanced relationship-building and negotiation skills. The role carries a high degree of accountability, supported by rigorous data management. The successful candidate will consistently deliver exceptional customer experience while upholding BHSI’s underwriting discipline. They will bring a strong technical and inquisitive mindset, along with a genuine commitment to long-term success at BHSI.   Duties & Responsibilities   Underwrite within defined authority and build technical expertise, escalating complex risks as needed Act and operate with integrity and respect while always seeking to achieve an underwriting profit Analyze natural catastrophe exposures and evaluate peril modelling and pricing Support and continue to develop upon our existing broker and customer relationships Operate in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and prioritize Travel within the United States Qualifications, Skills and Experience   Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Builder’s Risk insurance market with a strong commitment to an underwriting career with BHSI Motivated self-starter with a desire to collaborate and work within a wider transatlantic US/UK team Thoughtful communicator with strong listening skills and ability to focus on critically evaluating proposals Demonstrate a strong underwriting foundation with a keen attention to detail and commitment to excellence and professionalism. Proficient in reviewing quotations and issuing policies together with a basic understanding of natural catastrophe peril modelling and pricing for multi-year construction policies Willing to travel on business as required BA/BS degree qualified. Engineering degree a plus.
